Popular Simply Perfect Dock Sale marks 10 years with biggest event yet

Come early, be prepared to shop, and get ready to snag some outstanding deals at the annual Simply Perfect Dock Sale.

The popular downtown retailer at 8th & Railroad Center celebrates one decade of holding the popular sale – and when it returns at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 4, it will be bigger than ever.

“Because of COVID, we didn’t get to hold the Dock Sale last year, so we’re working really hard to make this the most exciting one yet,” marketing manager Christin Majerus said.

“The pandemic didn’t end some of our favorite traditions – and it actually has left us with even more to offer because we now have two years’ worth of products to clear out.”

The Dock Sale is your chance to shop floor models, slightly scratched or dented items while enjoying big savings.

“The event actually began because we had clients who were buying products from us and didn’t have a place to go with their previous furniture, which still had a lot of life left,” owner Penny Klinedinst said.

“It evolved to now be more exclusive to the brands we carry, so these are products we’ve either had in our shop for a while or that are slightly flawed, and by clearing them out, it allows us to make room for new merchandise.”

You’ll find a broad selection of home furnishings and furniture, decor and gift items.

“It’s a complete blast,” Majerus said. “It’s very high energy and a fun day for staff and customers alike. Think of a one-of-a-kind experience that will top any Black Friday sale. And it’s perfect for shoppers who have a competitive spirit because it’s first come, first served, and all the product is a surprise. So everyone has the same chance to find a treasure.”

This year, Plum’s Cooking Co. will join the fun with some kitchen products in the sale and pancake samples at the shop starting at 8 a.m.

“Plum’s also will serve complimentary coffee before the Dock Sale for those who need a little extra caffeine,” Majerus added.

The sale itself is held on the loading dock on the east side of 8th & Railroad, and there will be a gift for the first 50 customers in line.

Shopping the Dock Sale for the first time? Here are some tips:

• Come early – no surprise, this has become an annual tradition. One group even brews espresso in the back of the car while they wait. If you want the most selection, prepare to be in line.
• Wear comfortable, supportive shoes.
• Bring a helper to hold your finds.
• Bring a trailer or pickup so you can take your treasures home right away.
• Most important – be patient and kind, so it stays fun for all.
