Pop-up sauna/cold plunge offered this Saturday in collab with fitness center

A pop-up experience this Saturday will combine sauna and cold plunge sessions with the chance to take a fitness class.

It’s part of a collaborative event between Dakota Sauna Co. and Motiv Fitness and will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the fitness center’s parking lot at 6225 S. Western Ave. A sauna/cold plunge session is $30, and fitness classes will be held throughout the event for $10, available to members and nonmembers of Motiv.

Dakota Sauna Co. held its first pop-up in Sioux Falls last year, and there’s been plenty of interest,” said co-owner Haley Rapisarda, who was inspired to help create the business after experiencing sauna culture in the Twin Cities.

“We have a growing following on Instagram and draw pretty regular interest from people that just walk up at events to see what we are about.”

Up to 10 people can reserve hourly slots per sauna starting at 7 a.m. Saturday. The traditional experience is to spend five to 15 minutes in the sauna, then do a cold plunge for 30 seconds up to a few minutes and then repeat.

“It is first come, first served until all 10 spots in any given hour time slot are filled,” Rapisarda said.

Future pop-up events will be coming, including one Sept. 13 at Remedy Brewing Co. during an Oktoberfest event.

Dakota Sauna also offers private bookings in a setup that can accommodate 10 to 12 people at once.

“Private bookings are a great way to enhance family gatherings, sports teams, corporate events or parties and social gatherings,” Rapisarda said.
