LifeLight Communications plans to bring its Christian music festival back to Sioux Falls this year.

The event returns after a five-year break on Sept. 3, marking 25 years of the festival.

“We live in a great community and felt it was time to bring the festival right to the heart of the city,” Josh Brewer, CEO of LifeLight, said in a statement. “Along with our mission, we believe that being in downtown Sioux Falls brings the most potential to reach those in need.”

Grammy-nominated and award-winning Christian artist Skillet will be one of the headlining acts. Other artists confirmed include Colton Dixon and Cade Thompson.

The LifeLight Festival will again be presented free and will be hosted in downtown Sioux Falls, south of East Eighth Street including the parking lot of 8th & Railroad Center. It will include a kids area and action sports/skate park space.

“We are so very grateful to the many who support the ministry and the mission of LifeLight,“ Brewer said. “Since the beginning, God told us to provide the festival for free and that He would provide. Twenty-five years later, He continues to provide through the support of our friends and family. It is because of their support we are able to provide a top-quality outreach with top performers all for the sake of the Gospel.”

There also will be speakers reinforcing LifeLight’s mission to “take the church outside the walls,” as well as activities for all ages, local vendors and food trucks.

LifeLight was started by Alan and Vicki Greene in 1998 on a church lawn. It grew to be located at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds, Wild Water West and then a farm near Worthing, with attendance exceeding 300,000.
