Have you found yourself hoping Sioux Falls becomes a more sustainable community? You have the chance to help drive that direction this month.

The city is updating its sustainability master plan. The plan will focus on sustainability in these aspects of our community: natural systems, transportation and land use, energy and buildings, community vitality and sustainable living, sustainable economy, and materials management and waste. It also will prioritize social equity and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

“Hearing from the public is essential to update the sustainability master plan,” said Holly Meier, the city’s sustainability coordinator. “We want to make sure the plan represents community needs, has broad support and is effective in the long term. Working with the community in this early stage of the planning process and incorporating their ideas is key in achieving this.”

All feedback received from the community will help shape the city’s next sustainability plan, goals and actions.
