The Week Ahead: Oct. 27-Nov. 2
The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.
Oct. 29: Adaptive and Inclusive Trunk-or-Treat
Halloween events are fun for all ages, but they sometimes can be overwhelming for those with special needs and sensory issues. Teachwell Solutions is hosting an “adaptive and inclusive” trunk-or-treat event for those of all ages with special needs and their families. Cars will be decorated for trick-or-treating, and the event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Teachwell Solutions, 715 E. 14th St.

Oct. 29-31: Chrysanthemum Show at Homestead Orchard
Homestead Orchard, located about 40 minutes southwest of Sioux Falls, will be hosting a free chrysanthemum show all weekend. Wander through their greenhouse and see over 80 varieties of mums, all for free. After enjoying the flowers, visitors will be able to enjoy a free cup of coffee and sample varieties of apples. The mums will be available to view from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Oct. 30: Mall-o-Ween
Get ready to stock up on candy before the big day — The Empire Mall is hosting its annual Mall-o-Ween event Saturday. The event will take place in the Center Court from 4 to 6 p.m. and will consist of games, coloring stations, photo booths and lots of trick-or-treating. Candy collection won’t be confined to the court, though. Other retailers and restaurants throughout the mall will be participating as well, and a full list will be found the day of the event. No sign-up is required.

Oct. 30: Back to the ’70s and ’80s Halloween Party
This will be a throwback for some attendees: entertainment venue The Social is hosting a “Back to the ’70s and ’80s” Halloween party, and it should be a blast even if you don’t remember the decades. As well as music from DJ Chris Hintz, this 21-and-older event will feature costumes contests with cash prizes and many other Halloween-themed activities. The party will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $20 at the door and $10 if purchased in advance.

Oct. 30: 605 Emo Night
605 Emo Night is returning to the scene Saturday, and you’ll definitely want to check it out. Hosted by Nice Enough Entertainment and Icon Lounge, 605 Emo Night will feature “emo tunes” by DJ Zach Dresch, themed drinks, a costume contest and a photo event. The event is for those 18 and older, and doors will open at 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $12 or online for $10 by clicking here.

Oct. 30: Monster Mash at Jellystone Park
If you’re not one for trick-or-treating but still looking to get into the Halloween spirit, head to Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park on Halloween weekend for the Monster Mash. From noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the campground along I-90, you’ll find a corn maze, jumping pillow, mini golf, playgrounds, games, wagon rides and visits from the resident favorite bear. Plus there will be laser tag, tie-dye shirts, ceramics and pumpkin painting.
