The Week Ahead: Nov. 3-9
The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.
Nov. 4: The Pomp Room movie
It’s last call for those of you who haven’t seen “The Pomp Room: A Rock N Roll Bar Story” — or want to see it again. The locally filmed love story to a famed musical venue in downtown Sioux Falls will play for one final week at the West Mall 7 at 5 and 7:20 p.m. Friday through Nov. 10.

Nov. 4: Army band jazz
Listen to America’s original art form — jazz — performed by the Army’s premier big band at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Mary W. Sommervold Hall in the Washington Pavilion. The Jazz Ambassadors of The United States Army Field Band is a 19-member ensemble that was formed in 1969. Make reservations for free tickets here.

Nov. 4: Featured artist reception
Former Sioux Falls resident Eyob Mergia is Rehfeld’s Art & Framing’s featured artist for November. He will display new original works and will print editions of recent woodcuts live during a First Friday reception. The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Underground, Rehfeld’s lower level in the Falls Center building.

Nov. 4: Tattoos and fine art
Another First Friday event will take place at Vishnu Bunny, 202 S. Phillips Ave,. Its new tattoo artist, Magdalyn Lee, will display her fine art from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Nov. 5: Minions at the library
Minions, those lovably loopy movie stars, will take over the Brandon Community Library from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The event, designed for kids age 4 and older and their caregivers, will include minion catapults, a scavenger hunt and button-making.

Nov. 8: Winnie the Pooh
Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin will join Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit, Owl and Tigger, too, in a musical stage adaptation at the Washington Pavilion’s Mary Sommervold Hall at 6 p.m. Tuesday. It features Grammy Award-winning music by the Sherman Brothers with additional songs by author A.A. Milne. The story is new, and the residents of Hundred Acre Wood are presented in life-sized puppetry. Ticket information is here.

Nov. 9: Musical story time
The Dakota Wind Quintet will make story time musical at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Siouxland Libraries’ Oak View Branch. They’ll teach toddlers up to age 5 accompanied by their caregivers about musicians and instruments. Register here.
