May 27 and 30: Summer Porch series, Sangria Sunday at Strawbale Winery

The weekly Thursday evening series of live music, art, food trucks and wine at Strawbale Winery starts this week from 5 to 8 p.m.. Admission is $5 per person, $10 per carload or free for Wines Frequently members. Leave your pets and outside food and drink at home. Click here for information on future dates. And, May 30 marks the start of Sangria Sundays. They run from 1 to 4 p.m. and feature live music, a food truck and sangria summer wines. Pricing is the same as the Summer Porch series.

May 28: The Good Earth barn open house

Make the trip to Lennox from 3 to 8 p.m. to see The Good Earth farm’s newly renovated 1890s barn. There will be live music, plus The Big Orange Food Truck will be there from 4 to 8 p.m. Play yard games, meet the animals and tour the property. Click here for more on the farm.

May 28: Backartigans debut art show

Art in the backyard is the concept behind a new group called the Backartigans, which will hold its first event in the backyard of 810 S. Main Ave. from 6:30 to 9 p.m. There are 15 artists participating, including earrings/textile work, prints, photography, poetry and paintings all for sale.

There will be grilled hot dogs, baked goods, soft drinks and water bottles. The show will be back in June in a different backyard, with a date and place to be determined.

May 28-31: Last Nerd Standing endurance gaming competition

To kick off its new location, Nrdvana is hosting an endurance gaming competition that starts at 6 p.m. Friday and ends at 6 p.m. Monday – or whenever the last nerd is standing! All participants are required to stay awake the entire time. There’s still time to register. Onlookers are welcome to stop in to see who’s still playing. The new location for the consignment shop and Nrdy Brdy, the gaming lounge, is at 26th and Cliff.

May 29: First annual dog-friendly food tour

Bring your fur kid for an afternoon of food and drinks from 1 to 4 p.m, starting at Severance Brewing Co.. The tour is designed for an inclusive, varied experience of the best dining Sioux Falls has to offer. Stops include sweet and savory dog-friendly establishments. Click here to register.

May 29-31: Average Joe’s Gaming grand opening

The store, which offers access to the 1,500-plus board game collection of Joe Hamerly, opens at 11 a.m. Saturday, and the three-day Memorial Day weekend will feature giveaways, food trucks and cosplayers. The store at 27294 Verhey Place, which is west of the Harrisburg exit for I-29, also has video and arcade games, a lounge area and lots of play space.

June 3: ’90s Music Bingo

If ’90s music is your thing, you might rock at this bingo game. The fun runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sunny’s Pizzeria, the neighborhood pizza shop between Augustana and USF. Dab the songs on your card when you hear them play over the speakers. It’s free to play, and prizes will be awarded. Reservations are available for tables of three to five, and you’ll want to make them now because spots for the first round of fun, May 27, filled up quickly.
