The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.

May 1-4: Kingswood rummage sales

It’s the 47th year that neighbors in the Kingswood area have gotten together to sponsor rummage sales that go for blocks and blocks. The first day of the four-day event ends at 8 tonight, but you’ll find plenty of bargains from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The neighborhood runs west of Interstate 29 to Ellis Road and from 12th to 57th streets. Click here for individual listings.

May 3: Art and wine walk

The Downtown Sioux Falls Art + Wine Walk will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and offer several special events. Performers at South Dakota Aerial & Arts will display their skills, and you can sign up for a tarot reading by Eve Wieser. A wine-sampling punch card will cost $30, or get a glass of wine for $5. The cards will be on sale at any of the 31 wine-serving locations or a station at 11th Street and Phillips Avenue. Artwork also will be on display. Check out the locations here.

May 4: Sip & shop

Just in time for Mother’s Day shopping — or something for yourself — Seasoned Style is hosting a Sip & Shop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The event at 824 W. 10th St. will include Tastefully Simple samples and products, while Maria’s Honey Bee Boutique will feature clothing. Snacks and cocktails will be served.

May 4: Outdoor market

Hooray for May! And for the first Farmhouse Market of the season from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Vendors and a food truck will be set up in the parking lot at 121 S. Franklin Ave. Parking is available in the Formatop parking lot. Other outdoor markets are planned for June 1, July 6, Aug. 3 and Sept. 7.

May 4: Free comic books

Rainbow Comics, Cards & Collectibles, 3310 S. Minnesota Ave., will join other shops around the world to celebrate Free Comic Book Day on Saturday. More than 6 million comic books will be given away that day. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Rainbow Comics. Special guests will include the 501st Legion Central Garrison, South Dakota Heroes & Villains and the South Dakota Ghostbusters. There will be sales on comic books, comic book sets, trade paperbacks and board games. Local food truck vendors will be there from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Let Me Be Frank will be selling hot dogs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

May 4: John Prine tribute

Don McKenna, who performs “eclectic Americana,” will offer a music tribute to the late John Prine on Saturday. The concert will run from 8 to 11 p.m. at Monks Ale House, 422 E. Eighth St.

May 7: Wine expo

Come to JJ’s Wine, Spirits & Cigars to taste wines from all over the world on Tuesday. The free event runs from 5 to 7 p.m., or until the wine is gone, in JJ’s Event Room at 3000 W. 57th St.
