March 28-30: Holy Week musical

“The Passion and the Cross” has returned for its fourth season at the Orpheum Theater. The one-act, two-hour musical features a cast of about 140 adults and children, the largest cast ever put on the Orpheum stage. The final performances will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Purchase tickets here.

March 29: Egg hunt at Great Bear

Get outdoors and hunt for Easter eggs filled with prizes at Great Bear Recreation Park starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, plus do spring crafts. Registration is $5 per person hunting eggs. Click here to register.

March 30: Downtown Easter Egg Hunt

Celebrate spring and explore downtown Sioux Falls at this family-friendly event from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Venture through shops, collecting candy-filled Easter eggs and other goodies. No registration is required. Click here for details.

March 30: Eggstravaganza at Skate City

Skate City, 2901 W. Third St., will host an Eggstravaganza Skate from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. The morning will include a party with the Easter Bunny, plenty of candy and prizes. Admission is $8, and skate rental is $3.

March 30: Underwater Easter Egg Hunt

It has become an Easter tradition at the Midco Aquatic Center — collect eggs in shallow water, and win prizes. Once the hunt is done by age group, kids are welcome to stay and swim. No registration for Saturday’s event is necessary, but an active swim pass or daily admission is required to participate.

March 30: Beats and brunch

Falls Overlook Cafe, 825 N. Weber Ave., is teaming up with Pinnacle Productions to present Rise and Dine: DJ Beats and Brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The menu will include bloody marys, mimosas and featured brunch items. Reservations are not required but suggested. Email [email protected] to make reservations. If you can’t make it Saturday, brunch will be offered every Saturday during April.

April 2: Wine tasting

JJ’s Wine, Spirits & Cigars, Tom Slattery and Jill Muehl will present at wine tasting at JJ’s, 3000 W. 57th St., from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Come and taste wines from all over the world, and maybe find something new for spring.  This free event will be in The Event Room at JJ’s.

April 3: A night of jazz

Gene McGowan & Friends will present Olsen Brothers & Friends at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at The History Club of Sioux Falls, 758 S. Phillips Ave. Greg and Ralph Olsen will present a fun New York-style jazz club with cabaret seating performing music from The Great American Songbook. Coming up: April 10

“Inspiring South Dakota Change Makers,” a speaker series event in correlation with the Washington Pavilion’s National Geographic exhibition “Women: A Century of Change!” will feature local artists showcasing their portraits and sharing insights on how to break boundaries and create change in your community. Artists include Em Nguyen, photographic artist; Anna Reich, assistant professor of photography at Augustana University; and Emily Spartz Weerheim, photojournalist and business owner. It will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Visual Arts Center’s Everist Gallery. Portraits of female change-makers from South Dakota will be on display in the Belbas Theater lobby. At 6:30 p.m. Nguyen, Reich and Spartz Weerheim will present their pieces and speak on the themes and power in their works at 6:30 p.m. in the Belbas Theater.You can purchase tickets here.
