The Week Ahead: July 8-14
The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.
July 8-11: Shakespeare at Falls Park
Bare Bodkins Theatre has returned! The company will perform “Much Ado About Nothing” at the Queen Bee Mill at Falls Park beginning at 7 p.m. It’s a free 90-minute show, and tickets are handed out when you arrive starting at 6 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

July 9-11: Hot Harley Nights
It’s a big year for Hot Harley Nights — the 25th anniversary! There are events both at J&L Harley-Davidson and the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds, including a poker run, dirt dash, concert rides, demo rides, stunt shows, a parade and a lot more. Click here for the complete guide.

July 10: 605 Roots Breakfast at the Barn and horse poo bingo
This gets our award for most creative fundraiser of the week. From 9 to 10:30 a.m., the nonprofit Horseback Miracles at 605 Roots will host an event in Valley Springs to benefit its equine-assisted therapy programs. This includes breakfast with the horses, and then one will be released into a bingo pen, where for $50 per square you can guess where her deposit will land and potentially win $1,200. July 10: Sioux Falls Skatepark Block Party
Head to the south end of downtown for a great time and support the Sioux Falls Skatepark Association. From noon to 8 p.m. the 300 block of East 12th Street will be filled with food and skating as part of this pop-up park, plus activities from The Breaks, Total Drag, Green Dream, Common Sense and food truck Krazy Concessions. Donations of household goods will support the Center for New Americans at Lutheran Social Services.

July 11: Sioux Falls Mud Run
Love this location for a mud run! Laurel Ridge Barn will host it from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and use the waterway at Slip Up Creek for the course. Click here to learn more.

July 11: Good Earth Outdoor Concert
This sounds like a great start to a Sunday evening: Hear Mogen’s Heroes live at Good Earth State Park from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Dakota Snow will be on hand for a treat, and the concert is free to attend with a park entrance license. Some permanent seating is available, but audience members are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.

July 13: Dive-in movie — “Shark Tale”
The outdoor “swimming cinema” returns! To be in the water at Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center, you will need to have an air mattress. There will be seating on the deck for others. Games will start at 8 p.m., and the movie will begin at approximately 9 p.m. No registration is required. The event is free.
