Jan. 9: heART of the City

heART of the City is an annual art show featuring 2D, 3D and wearable art created by local artists of all ages and disciplines. Creative teams and individual artists have turned found objects into artwork, and they describe how that artwork connects to the show’s theme of love. The Little Stone Church and BronzeAge Art Casting will host the event from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Friday at Whittier Middle School, 930 E. Sixth St.

Jan. 10: Coffee and birding

Learn tips for identifying winter birds and attracting them to backyard feeders in an event from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Arrowhead Park, 1600 River Bluff Road. At the end, bundle up and take part in a brief easy walk around the property. Binoculars will be available for use.

Jan. 10: Goodbye, hello

SuFu Creative is having a goodbye party from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Nordic Hall, 218 W. 13th St. There will be prizes, crafts and vendors. The nonprofit is converting to reCREATE by Zenith at the same location. It will sell some art supplies, and space can be rented for $10 for the first hour and $5 for every hour after.

Jan. 10: Winter games

Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation will host the Tuthill Winter Games from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Tuthill Park. Take part in cardboard toboggan races, hungry hungry human, human curling and powder putt-putt golf. Activities are for all ages.

Jan. 12: Paint and create

A fun, creative clay class for students 5 and older will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Mosaic Arts & Events, 500 N. Main Ave. Kids will briefly learn how to score, attach and sculpt with air-dry clay, then create anything they imagine. Paint and clay will dry together, and boxes will be provided to take them home. Cost is $5. Register here.

Jan. 14: Senior Stroll

Scheels, 2101 W. 41st St., will open at 8 a.m. Wednesday for its second annual Senior Stroll for people 55 and older. They’ll get their steps in until 9 a.m. and enjoy Ginna’s Coffee.
