Dec. 8: Pettigrew Open House

Enjoy a Victorian Christmas at the Pettigrew Home & Museum, 131 N. Duluth Ave., from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. It will include an evening of history, neighborhood horse-drawn wagon rides, holiday music and refreshments. The event is free.

Dec. 8 and beyond: Downtown events

Downtown Sioux Falls will be the scene of holiday festivities over the next few days.

REACH Literacy is having its final sale of the season Thursday through Saturday at the Jones421 Building. A $10 bill will get you a bag of books. The Jones421 Holiday Market featuring local artists and makers will be Saturday. Threads by Simply Perfect offers the Bohemian Blue Trunk Show Saturday through Dec. 16, and at JuLiana’s Boutique La Femme, the men’s night holiday open house is Dec. 15 with drinks, snacks and discounts with Chris Beyer performing live music.

Dec. 9: Mocktails Mix-off

Living Well South Dakota, Giving Hope Bingo and Health Connect South Dakota are hosting a community sobriety holiday mixer Friday. The Mocktails Mix-off will offer sampling and voting from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the bingo hall, 1605 W. Burnside St., with winners announced at 7 p.m. Participants are invited to stay and play bingo at 7:05 p.m. For information, call Health Connect at 605-371-1000.

Dec. 10: Christmas music

In the mood for Christmas music? Harmony South Dakota will present its Harmony Holiday Concert at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the former St. Jospeh Cathedral School, 601 W. Fourth St. The Harmony Choir will sing traditional carols, and the Sinfonia Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra also will perform during the one-hour concert.

Dec. 10-11: Wild Winter Festival

Holiday cheer will be served with a cookie and hot chocolate at the Wild Winter Festival, hosted by Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation. You can decorate a cookie, sip on cocoa and put together a holiday craft, all while listening to the music of the season. The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday and 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Downtown Plaza, along 10th Street one block east of Phillips Avenue.

Dec. 11: German Christmas Service

Fröliche Weihnachten! Come to First Congregational United Church of Church, 300 S. Minnesota Ave., to take part in the 50th annual German Christmas Service. The service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday; afterward, German Christmas goodies will be served during a time of fellowship.

Upcoming: Dec. 17

Interested in live dinner theatre? The Good Night Theatre Collective will present “Little Women” at DaDaGastropub at 6 p.m. Dec. 17. The doors will open at 6 p.m. for cocktails, and the meal and performance will begin once all guests are seated. Tickets cost $70 and include everything but drinks. Make reservations here.
