The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.

Aug. 7-10: Broadway in the park

Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation and Ephemeral Productions bring back Broadway and Beyond with “Seasons of Love,” a fast-paced, family-friendly celebration of iconic music numbers. You’ll hear 30 songs in 75 minutes from hits such as “Grease,” “Damn Yankees,” “Mamma Mia” and “Frozen.” The productions on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will begin at 7 p.m. with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee, all at the McKennan Park band shell.

Aug. 8-9: Art and music

The Four Winds Music and Art Festival will celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Spill Canvas releasing “One Fell Swoop” on Friday and Saturday at several downtown locations. The Spill Canvas is the headliner Friday night on the main stage. Among the dozens of other performers are  The Spirit of Versailles, Chris Webby and Rifflord. You’ll find the complete list of venues, bands and set times by clicking here.

Aug. 9: Piglet and tales

Come to the Stockyards Ag Experience, 301 E. Falls Park Drive, on Saturday for Piglet Story Time. A piglet will travel from the Pipestone Discovery Barn at the Sioux Empire Fair to visit the Ag Experience barn and help tell a fun farm story. The first reading will be at 10:45 a.m. with a second reading 15 minutes later.

Aug. 9: Learn to fish

Plenty of summer left if you’ve been meaning to learn the basics of fishing. This open house-style program at the Outdoor Campus is aimed at participants with limited time. All equipment is provided, and while it’s open to all ages, youngsters must be with an adult. No registration is needed. There are two sessions: 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Aug. 9: Top Loaders & Tiaras

Izzi’s Gym, 807 N. Lake Ave., will provide the materials — and maybe a little inspiration — at Top Loaders & Tiaras: A Crafty Girls’ Night. You’ll design a custom card holder for Magic, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh or Lorcana or just enjoy do-it-yourself. It will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday. Let the glitter begin!

Aug. 11: Ride by starlight

The moon won’t be full, but it still will offer a mighty glow during the Moon and Stars Ride, a nighttime cycling experience. Join fellow cyclists on the Remedy Brewing Co. back patio, 401 E. Eighth St., at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Bring your bike and your lights. Falls Area Bicyclists is the host.

Aug. 13: Food rescue

Food Rescue 605, through Sioux Falls Thrive, will host a gleaning and processing day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church, 500 N. Highland Ave. Help is needed in donations of garden produce, volunteers to pick the produce or pick it up, deliver it and turn it into ready-to-eat food for local organizations to distribute. Volunteer signups are being taken through Bread Break’s food rescue app. To volunteer, visit breadbreak.org/volunteer. Visit foodrescue605.org for information.
