Aug. 18: Yappy Hour

Join other dog lovers Thursday for Yappy Hour, where you and your dog will get the chance to socialize leading up to National Dog Day on Aug. 26. Hosted at Spencer Dog Park by Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation, a special obstacle course will be set up for dogs to play on, and while supplies last, you’ll also be able to make a custom homemade dog toy for your furry friend. Yappy Hour is free to attend for dogs of all sizes and will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. No registration is required.

Aug. 19-21: Tattoos for Rescues

Get a tattoo for a good cause Friday through Sunday. Divergent Ink is hosting the second annual Tattoos for Rescues event, where $25 from each tattoo will go to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society. You’ll have to choose from a list of specific “flash” tattoos, and each tattoo will cost $100. You must be 18 or older with a valid photo ID to be tattooed. Sessions will be a half-hour, walk-in only and take place from noon to 5 p.m. at Divergent Ink, 5107 W. 41st St.

Aug. 20: Pedaling the Past: A Sioux Falls History Bike Tour

Get a good workout in while also learning about the history of Sioux Falls. The Pedaling the Past Bike Tour hosted by the Old Courthouse Museum will take you through all of the area’s most iconic landmarks and historical sites, including Tuthill Park, Falls Park and downtown. Participants will need to bring their own bike and helmet for the approximately two-hour, 5- to 8-mile ride that starts at 9.m. Saturday. You’ll also need to register in advance, by calling the Old Courthouse Museum at 605-367-4210. The fee is $10.

Aug. 20: Bazaart

Sunny’s Pizzeria and specialty printing service Prints & Repeat will host the inaugural Bazaart art show and pop-up shop Saturday. Pieces from local artists as well as other handmade products from local vendors and makers will be available for sale and viewing at the event. Over 20 creators will be featured. The show will take place outdoors at Sunny’s Pizzeria, 1801 S. Walts Ave., from 1 to 5 p.m. and is suitable for all ages.

Aug. 20: Downtown Riverfest

The ninth annual Downtown Riverfest is Saturday. This year, performers will include Back Alley, Mat D & the Roadside Revival and Laney Lou & the Bird Dogs. There also will be kids activities, including performances from Phil Baker and interactive activities from the Butterfly House & Aquarium. Because of construction, Riverfest will be held at Fawick Park at Second Avenue and 10th Street this year rather than its usual location. Canoe rides, food trucks and other vendors will also be available at the event, which will be from 5 to 11 p.m.
