April 27: YPN Birthday Bash

The Sioux Falls Young Professionals Network — YPN for short — will celebrate its 14 years in existence from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at PAve, 130 S. Phillips Ave. The event will include door prizes, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a chance to meet other young professionals if you’re not already a member. Bring your business cards to enter a drawing for a door prize.

April 27: Closet sale and pop-up

An Influencer Closet Sale + Pop-up with Link x Lou will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Casetta, 201 W. 37th St. Local influencers will sell their gently worn women’s clothing and accessories. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the nonprofit Dress for Success, which helps women achieve economic independence. Payments for clothing will be accepted via Venmo. Link x Lou offers precious metal jewelry that is made to last and will offer a custom-sized clasp-free bracelet, necklace, anklet or ring. Sign up for a time slot here.

April 29: BaconFest

An event that celebrates all things bacon will run from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Remedy at 611, 611 N. West Ave. BaconFest 2023 is a fundraiser for the Sioux Falls Roller Dollz roller derby team. Buy a pork passport to try out the bacon-recipe contest entries. There’s also a bacon-eating contest and oink contest, along with a raffle. You can sign up to enter a bacon recipe here.

April 29: Hunting for eggs

Before April turns into May, there’s time for an Easter egg hunt at The Good Earth Farm, 28318 466th Ave., Lennox. The event, co-hosted by Dakotah Bank, will run from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. The hunts are at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.; register for the time you prefer here.

Toledo the party horse and the Easter Bunny will be there, along with the animals at The Good Earth Farm. Beverages for adults and children will be on sale, and you can sample TGEF’s wood-fired pizzas.

April 29: Plant trading

A spring plant and garden sale/swap will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at McCrossan Boys Ranch, 47135 260th St. Hosting the event are Plant Traders and Gardeners of South Dakota, McCrossan Boys Ranch and Your CBD Store. Cheezy Noodlez food truck and Kahl’s Kettlecorn also will be on-site. If you’d like to help McCrossan with a donation, you can find the list of items needed for boys and animals here.

April 29: Spring Fling

Spring Fling at The Bridges at 57th Street will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. You’ll find discounts, promotions and special events at the locally owned shops and boutiques, plus family-friendly fun from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It includes the Finni Mini Farm & Sanctuary pop-up petting zoo, The Bouquet Bar pop-up by Jane Rae Events, a spring photo booth pop-up by Prairie Lane Vintage Rentals and the Oh My Cupcakes mobile cupcake experience.

April 29: Indie Bookstore Day

Hooray for independently owned book stores! You can celebrate Indie Bookshop Day at Full Circle Book Co-op, 123 W. 10th St., running from noon Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday. A tote-bag sale will offer limited-edition totes, and DJ Abbie Day will host a rave party from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

April 30: ‘Mostly Mozart’

A windy spring might be an appropriate time to hear woodwinds play. You can do that at 2 p.m. Sunday at the “Mostly Mozart” High Plains Woodwinds Spring Concert at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church, 2208 W. La Quinta St. Dr. Paul Schilf will conduct the ensemble, which will play Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 among other pieces.

May 3: ‘Midwest Murder’

Midwest nice combines with murder most foul when “Midwest Murder” hosts Jonah Lantto and Dawn Palumbo their live podcast Wednesday to the Icon Event Hall, 402 N. Main Ave. The evening include a chance to hear the podcast recorded, along with a Q&A with the hosts. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the show at 7 p.m. Purchase advance tickets here.
