April 22: Superhero trivia
How well do you know your superheroes? Show up at Severance Brewing Co. at 7 p.m., and find out. Trivia will cover movies and TV shows â no comic books. Trivia is open to the first 12 teams and has been filling up fast, so come early.
April 23: Mayor’s Fitness Challenge kickoff
Nicer weather is on the way so there’s no excuse not to get moving. Join Mayor Paul TenHaken to kick off the first day of the Mayorâs Fitness Challenge, and walk or run the first mile of the challenge, starting at noon at the Levitt Shell. The challenge encourages area residents to log/track miles doing activities until Aug. 1. Prizes will be awarded to participants who share their progress and activities on social media using the hashtag #100Miles100DaysSF.
April 24: Independent Bookstore Day
OK, most of these “holidays” can be a little hard to get excited about but not this one. Who doesn’t love another reason to support independent bookstores? Zandbroz Variety is celebrating with 15 percent off all books, a free surprise book with any book purchase and several author signings.
April 24: Disc golf competitionÂ
Think you’ve got what it takes to become the city’s disc golf champ? Head to Spencer Park from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and test your skills on the nine-hole course. There will be a trophy for the winner. Registration is required.Â
April 23 and 24: Junkin’ Market Days
This two-day indoor market at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds’ Expo Building is filled with repurposed, rustic, shabby chic, farmhouse, vintage and one-of-a-kind finds. It runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Click here for information on tickets.
April 25: Shrimp/Crawfish Boil
This annual event fills up fast at the Shipwreck Bar and Grill in Chester. For $30, you’ll get a bucket for two filled with jumbo shrimp, crawfish, mussels, sausage, red potatoes, corn on the cob and onions.  It runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Click here for tickets.
