April 4: Egg Splash N Dash

Spellerberg Park, 1601 S. Western Ave., will host this year’s Egg Splash N Dash from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Colorful eggs will be hidden across the park, and candy goodie bags will be distributed while supplies last. A DJ will spin tracks, and the Easter Bunny will be there for photos. Inflatables and other outdoor recreation activities will be available. Hunts will take place by age, then it’s time to swim in the Midco Aquatic Center pool. The event is free; no registration is required.

April 3 and 4: Other Easter events

Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation also will host a trail egg hunt at 6:10 p.m. Friday at Great Bear Recreation Park, 5901 E. Rice St. As you walk the trail along Great Bear’s pond, participants will search for eggs with special prizes inside. Separate sections will be set up for age groups: 2 to 5, 6 to 10 and 11 to 17. Cost is $5 per participant. You can register here.

J&L Harley-Davidson, 2601 W. 60th St. N., will host a family Easter celebration from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday with free pancakes from 9 a.m. to noon and Easter treat bags all day while supplies last. A $1 happy hour will run from 2 to 4:30 p.m. It’s also the last day to enter a coloring contest for kids to win a prize.

The Great Plains Zoo, 805 S. Kiwanis Ave., will host its annual Egg-Stravaganza, sponsored by the Sioux Falls Canaries. The zoo will open at 10 a.m. Saturday with treat scavenger hunt sheets available for age 8 to 12 until 2 p.m. Egg hunts for those 3 and younger are at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Egg hunts for age 4 to 7 are at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. All hunts will take place on the primate lawn. Other activities are listed here. Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased here. Admission is included with Monarch Memberships.

Look’s Marketplace, 500 E. 69th St., will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday. Free face painting will be available from 10 to 11 a.m., with one Easter egg hunt at 10:30 a.m. and a second at 11 a.m.

April 6: Touch a Truck

Scheels and local partners are hosting a first-time event, Touch a Truck. You’ll be able to climb in, check out and get up close with firetrucks, tractors, skid loaders, tree-removal trucks and other equipment. The event will run from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday in the south parking lot at Scheels, 2101 W. 41st St. Oh My Cupcakes also will be on-site.

Coming up: April 25

It’s April, so what better time to prepare for Halloween. The second annual Screams by Night | Halfway to Halloween Con will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 25 at The Social. Wear your favorite costume and enjoy more than 20 vendors, cosplayers and horror celebrity guest appearances. Guests include Brinke Stevens and Michelle Bauer, who will appear at a screening of “Sorority Babes” at the State Theatre on April 24. Tickets for Screams by Night are $10 online, $15 at the door on the day of the show, with children 10 and younger free. Proceeds from the silent auction will be donated to The Transformation Project.
