April 17: TEDx talks

The 2025 TEDxSioux Falls talks will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Washington Pavilion’s Mary W. Sommervold Hall. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. with pre-program entertainment. Eight people will share their messages. General admission tickets are available here.

Today-April 19: Downtown Sioux Falls Spring Fling

Don’t miss the final days of shopping as part of the Downtown Sioux Falls Inc. Spring Fling event. It runs through Saturday at more than two dozen participating retailers. You’ll find special offers and chances to win gift cards to downtown retailers. Here’s a full list of participants:

April 18: Earth Day Festival

Head to Great Bear Recreation Park from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, where families can connect with nature and learn about being stewards of Earth’s resources. Activities include a self-guided scavenger hunt along the trails and a tote bag decorating station. You’ll also receive a grow kit to start a garden at home.

April 18: Bumper Medley

Take a spin on bumper cars indoors at the new Westside Recreation Center, 8701 W. 32nd St. Race around a course, or enjoy fun free play beginning at 5 p.m. Friday. The first hour will cater to those age 6 to 10, while the second hour will be for tweens/teens age 11 to 17. Click here to sign up.

April 19: Cinnamon roll Saturday

Come to Art Moms on Saturday for a delicious pop-up with Bourne Family Bakery. Fresh-baked cinnamon rolls and bagels will be dropped off by 10 a.m. and will be sold for $2 off. It’s also a good time to see the local art and gifts being offered at the Art Moms and Friends pop-up gift store at 3101 W. 41st St.

April 19: Day of Action

A Day of Action event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Van Eps Park, 300 N. Minnesota Ave., with a food drive to support Feeding South Dakota and other organizations that provide hunger relief across South Dakota. Volunteers will accept donations of shelf-stable food. Cash donations to Feeding South Dakota also will be accepted; information about donating online will be available. People with signs will stand along Minnesota Avenue as part of a peaceful rally in support of fighting food insecurity.

April 19: Downtown hunt

Hop into spring with an Easter adventure in downtown Sioux Falls. Participating downtown businesses will host an Easter egg hunt from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. You can explore, collect treats and enjoy special promotions. Download the map of participating businesses here.

April 19: Eggs-stravaganza

The Great Plains Zoo’s annual Egg-stravaganza is sponsored by the Sioux Falls Canaries this year. It will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and include egg hunts for all ages at varying times, animal encounters, story times, photo-ops and other fun. Click here for details.

April 19: Egg Dash & Splash

Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation is hosting the Egg Dash and Splash at Spellerberg Park at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Children can collect candy and eggs, play on inflatables and and join in outdoor Parks & Rec activities. Hunts  will take place by age group. No registration is required. If you’re there at 11:30 a.m., you can have pizza or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with the Easter Bunny and take photos at Midco Aquatic Center.

April 21: Legos building

Join Scheels expert Lego builders for a free, open-house-style event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. Kids will build their own Lego race car to take home. No registration is required, but quantities are limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult. It takes place in Scheels’ second-floor training center.

Coming up: April 25-26

Tickets are available now for the literary festival Beyond the Books, a two-day celebration of books, storytelling and the art of literature. It will run April 25 and 26 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Community Library, 909 W. 33rd St. Attendees will engage with well-known authors, explore a vendor fair filled with book-themed treasures and enjoy a gala featuring live music and exclusive meet-and-greets with the guest authors. Featured are Paul Horsted, Becky Blue, Patty Wetterling and Billy Mills. Cost for Saturday only is $50. The gala plus literary festival is $100. Tickets are available here.
