Small shops, big impact: A ‘small-shop hop’ for LifeScape

“Sioux Falls: A good thing going” was a slogan our city used for many years, and it’s still true. We have a long history of coming together to make our community better for everyone. LifeScape has benefited from that powerful force for good and is giving back through a June 21 event: Small Shops, Big Impact. It’s a “small-shop hop” to eight locally owned small businesses, which, in turn, will donate back to LifeScape from the day’s proceeds.

Those eight LifeScape-supporting businesses are Makers Exchange in Tea; Apricot Lane Boutique; Mulberry Market; Josiah’s Coffeehouse, Cafe & Bakery; Say Anything Jewelry; Zandbroz Variety; MK Threads; and Remedy Brewing Co. Registered shoppers will have a “bingo card” stamped along the way for prize drawings at the end of the day.

LifeScape director of development Anna Trosper had the idea to lift up the locally owned small businesses that make Sioux Falls unique.

“We’ve heard about some of our small shops struggling, and this is a way to bring new customers through their doors while also benefiting shoppers and LifeScape,” she said.

Many of the businesses have longtime connections to LifeScape through past employment, philanthropy, having a family member or friend supported, volunteerism or just seeing the good it does in the community.

Small Shops, Big Impact kicks off at 9 a.m. at Makers Exchange in Tea, where participants will get their bingo card and a route map.

You can register there or in advance at SmallShopsForLifeScape.org for $25 per person or $40 for a shopping duo. It ends at 4 p.m. at Remedy Brewing for an after-party. All registered shoppers will be eligible for gift basket drawings at the end. Everyone with a full bingo card is eligible for a gift card drawing.
