Amazing things happen in our schools every day — if you know where to look! Do you know some school news others would love? Let us know at [email protected].

Thanks to the winning bid at a fundraiser, this St. Michael Elementary student rode to school in style. That’s Jackson Stevens, who got a ride to school in a firetruck.

Meet Toby, who had his first day of school at John Harris Elementary last week. The certified therapy dog will be working with kids in the library.

What a fun way to practice math! A kindergarten student at R.F. Pettigrew Elementary learns at a light table funded through a Public School Proud Grant from the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation. The light table provides hands-on learning that teaches fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

George McGovern Middle School Principal Tim Koehler celebrated a milestone birthday in a big way.

And it was slime time for Holy Spirit Elementary Principal Regan Manning, who issued a summer reading challenge to the school.

The top reader from each grade level got to slime him! The goal for the summer was for students to read a total of 120,000 minutes. They crushed that goal, reading for 168,172 minutes.
