Junior Achievement of South Dakota put on an “Inspire” event for eighth graders citywide to introduce them to careers. These photos are from O’Gorman Junior High and Memorial Middle School.

And talk about eighth grade inspiration: Students at Whittier Middle School split up to pay visits to DSU, SDSU and USD for an up-close look about what college life could include.

John Harris Elementary surprised fifth grader Sully as his design was chosen for this year’s school flag. Every year, fifth graders have the opportunity to create a design around a theme. The drawings are voted on by a panel, and a winner is chosen. The flag is then displayed in the multipurpose room. This year’s theme is “Everything You Don’t Know is Something You Can Learn!”

Student council members read to students at Eugene Field Elementary while generating group discussions with the kids.

The Sioux Falls Mariachi Band has been making the rounds at schools, spotted here at Ben Reifel Middle School.

Oscar Howe Elementary fourth graders had fun tracking Olympic medals and cheering on the different countries they’ve learned about while researching for their informative country reports.
