School news of the week: Goat yoga for students, award-winning artists

Here’s a preview of some of the student work you’ll soon see on display in the state Capitol. The Governor’s Student Art Competition is open to students in grades K-12. Three student works in each division were selected to be exhibited. These are from Fred Assam Elementary and Beresford High School.

How fun is this? Weller Brothers Landscaping teamed up with Bee Fit SD Yoga and Wellness to celebrate students at Joe Foss at Axtell Park meeting some of their academic goals.

They joined in an enrichment day celebration featuring goat yoga.

“Yoga was a new experience for the students and many on our team,” Weller Brothers said in a Facebook post. “Throw cute goats in the mix, and it’s an activity we’ll remember for a while.”

These students at Sioux Falls Lutheran School and Garfield Elementary were excited for recess in the snow.

Second graders at Laura B. Anderson Elementary read the book “Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy’s Parade.” The students designed and created their own balloons and then paraded through the school before Thanksgiving break.

Students from Ben Reifel and George McGovern middle schools marched together alongside brightly lit floats in the Parade of Lights.

And finally, thank you to First Interstate Bank’s North Cliff Avenue branch for donating winter gloves, hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes to Laura B. Anderson Elementary.
