School news of the week: $1M donation, ’80s throwback, fun in the snow

Sioux Falls Lutheran School received a special gift on the heels of this holiday season: a $1 million anonymous gift toward its capital campaign. The donation will support new early childhood classrooms and construction costs for the addition.

The four-classroom addition and new learning center are designed to address the school’s long waiting list for infant and toddler education and care. It’s scheduled to be ready for classes this fall.

Fifth graders at Discovery Elementary had a Career Cafe this week with speakers from the USD School of Health Services. They learned about various programs such as nursing, public health, social work, addiction counseling and prevention, and medical laboratory science.
