Construction season is here, so we’re giving you a weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next.

What’s done

Work on Kiwanis Avenue between 26th and 41st streets is done and open to traffic! There won’t be any lane closures this week during the Sanford International, but the following week, there might be some intermittent lane closures for final cleanup work.

What’s underway

Traffic on 49th Street from Arway Drive to Carnegie Circle will be shifted to the newly constructed south two lanes Tuesday to allow crews to begin work on the second phase of this project.

This work is expected to be complete by the end of October.

What’s next

Accessible curb ramp and sidewalk repairs on 10th Street between Dakota and Minnesota avenues begin Tuesday.

Various lane and sidewalk closures will be in place while this work is occurring. Work should be done in two to three weeks.

The westbound lane of 26th Street will be closed between Fifth and Seventh avenues staring today. Westbound traffic will be placed in the center turn lane to maintain two-way traffic. This work should be done by the end of the week.

Grange Avenue will be closed between 30th and 31st streets for utility work. This work is expected to be complete in about a week.

The outside eastbound lane of 41st Street will be closed from Valley View Road/Holbrook Avenue to Marion Road to allow crews to perform concrete saw cutting. This work is expected to be completed by Friday, with the lane closure removed for the weekend. Then, beginning Sept. 20, the lane  will be closed again to allow crews to perform street and utility improvements. Work will be complete by the end of October.

The outside eastbound lane of 57th Street will be closed at Quail Run Avenue to allow construction crews to perform storm drainage repairs. Eastbound traffic will be maintained in the inside lane. Westbound traffic will not be impacted. Work is expected to take about two weeks.

Survey crews will be working along Interstate 229 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Thursday. Lane closures will be in place during these times. Northbound traffic is expected to be impacted today and Tuesday, while southbound traffic is expected to be impacted Wednesday and Thursday.
