Road Report: Sept. 19, 2022

Construction season is here, so we’re back with our weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next.

What’s underway

Underground utility work is nearing completion on Minnesota Avenue between Russell and Second streets. After the utility work is complete, subgrade stabilization and gravel placement will follow. The city expects concrete paving to begin on Minnesota Avenue sometime in the next few weeks.

A major concrete pour is expected to take place this week on Arrowhead Parkway west of Six Mile Road. Arrowhead remains closed between Six Mile Road and the Willow Run Golf Course entrance until early October. Six Mile Road is open to traffic.

Work on 41st Street between I-29 and Marion Road continues.

Work in this section of 41st Street is expected to be complete and open to traffic later this fall.  The I-29/41st Street interchange and 41st between I-29 and Shirley Avenue will be reconstructed in 2023.  More info can be found online at 41stddi.com.

Beginning today, westbound traffic on 41st Street between I-29 and Marion Road will be moved to the newly paved roadway on the north side of 41st.

Eastbound traffic will remain on the south side of 41st Street.  Traffic in both directions on 41st will continue to be reduced to one lane in each direction as the contractor completes work on the center median and sidewalks.

Beginning on Monday, Sept.19, the north side of the intersections at 41^st and Terry and 41^st and Madelyn will reopen to traffic.

What’s next

Beginning today, Grange Avenue will closed between 18th and 22nd streets to allow crews to perform underground utility work. Motorists should use Western Avenue as an alternate route.  This work is expected to be complete in one to two weeks.

Beginning today, the outside eastbound lane of 12th Street will be closed between Interstate 29 and Ebenezer Avenue to allow crews to perform concrete sidewalk repairs.  This work is expected to be complete in about one week.
