Construction season is here, so we’re back with our weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next.

What’s underway

41st and Sycamore: The contractor on 41st Street and Sycamore Avenue continues to make progress.  They are performing grading operations and cement stabilization on the southwest quadrant.

Concrete paving will start this week and will continue for a couple of weeks. Over the next few weeks, the contractor will be slip forming median curb, pouring trail and pouring colored median concrete. Asphalt paving should be complete in early November.

41st  and I-29: Good progress is being made on the 41st and Interstate 29 interchange project.

Crews have started building retaining walls for the southbound I-29 on-ramp and southbound I-29 off-ramp.  This work is anticipated to last four to six weeks.

Concrete has been poured for center turn lanes along 41st Street. Crews are also working on the colored concrete work for the medians along 41st, which should be completed by the end of this week.

Cliff Avenue: Cliff Avenue from 11th to 26th streets was mentioned in last week’s Road Report and continues to see progress. The contractor is hoping to finish up this week.

Crews are performing repairs on concrete curb and gutter and accessible curb ramps ahead of an asphalt overlay on this segment of Cliff Avenue next spring.

Marion Road: On Marion Road from Foundation Court to 259th Street, concrete paving is done for the year. There will be some concrete work next year after power poles are relocated. Asphalt paving is complete. Work that remains is pavement markings, earthwork, topsoil, sidewalk, drain tile, seeding and conduit. Some of this work will be complete yet this year, but some will spill into next spring.

Minnesota Avenue: On Minnesota Avenue between Russell and Second streets all four lanes of mainline concrete paving is complete.  Work will continue with tie-ins to the adjacent side streets, as well as sidewalk, retaining walls and median construction.

Russell Street: Russell Street bridge eastbound and westbound repairs are underway. Bridge bearings will be reset, and some surface concrete repairs will be made.

60th Street North: The street closure on West 60th Street North will be extended an additional two weeks to Oct. 29 between Minnesota and Westport avenues to allow crews to perform concrete pavement repairs. Westbound traffic is detoured to Russell Street at Minnesota. Eastbound traffic is detoured to Russell at Westport.

Minnesota Avenue: The outside southbound lane of Minnesota Avenue closed last week between 37th and 41st streets to allow crews to complete sidewalk improvements. This work is expected to be complete by late October.

15th Street:  Last week, 15th Street closed to traffic just east of Sycamore Avenue. Spielman Excavating is working on new utilities. The work is expected to be complete by the end of this week.
