Road Report: Aug. 15, 2022
Construction season is here, so we’re back with our weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next.
What’s underway
33rd Street: The eastbound lane on 33rd Street between Lake and Grange avenues closed Aug. 9 to allow Xcel Energy to perform work. The center turn lane is being used to maintain eastbound traffic. This work is expected to be complete by early this week. Then, work will shift to 33rd between Grange and Summit avenues for one week, and when that work is complete, work will shift to 33rd between Summit and Spring avenues for one week.
12th Street: The outside westbound lane and the right turn lane on 12th Street between Williams and Kiwanis avenues closed Aug. 10 to allow crews to perform concrete repairs. This work is expected to be complete by the middle of this week.
Cliff Avenue: The outside southbound lane on Cliff Avenue between 54th Street North and Benson Road closed Aug. 10 to allow crews to perform utility work. This work is expected to be complete by the middle of this week.
41st & Marion: Marion Road north of 41st Street is expected to reopen to traffic by the end of this week!

Crews are working on finishing the concrete paving this week and next week. 41st Street traffic remains reduced to one lane in each direction between Marion Road and Interstate 29.

Crews are working on the storm drainage system piping. After that work is complete, grading, gravel and paving will occur on 41st Street as well.

Six Mile Road: Six Mile Road north and south of Arrowhead Parkway also is expected to reopen by the end of this week!

Crews are working on finishing the concrete paving.

Arrowhead Parkway: Arrowhead Parkway will remain closed between Six Mile Road and the Willow Run Golf Course entrance until early October.

The detour route is 26th Street and Veterans Parkway.

41st & Sycamore: Paving took place last week on the second phase of work at 41st Street and Sycamore Avenue. Work will continue at this intersection until late fall.

What’s next
Lyon Boulevard: Beginning today, Lyon Boulevard from Ninth Street to 50 feet north of the railroad crossing will be closed to allow construction crews to perform railroad crossing improvements. Motorists should use Ebenezer Avenue, 12th Street, Kiwanis Avenue and Madison Street as alternate routes. This work is expected to be complete in about one week.
Westport Avenue: Beginning today, crews will be performing repairs to the sanitary sewer along Westport Avenue between 43rd and 49th streets. The intersection of 47th and Westport will be closed to traffic while work is being performed at this intersection. There also will be short-term lane restrictions and driveway access restrictions at other locations along Westport Avenue as the work progresses. This work is expected to be complete in about two weeks.
33rd Street: Beginning today, 33rd Street will be closed east of Veterans Parkway to allow crews to construct a new roundabout on 33rd. Motorists can use Veterans Parkway, 26th Street, Shafer Avenue and Silverthorne Avenue as a detour route. This work is expected to be complete in early September.
Sycamore Avenue: Beginning Wednesday, the outside southbound lane of Sycamore Avenue will be closed just north of 57th Street to allow crews to offload some equipment. This work is expected to be complete by the end of the day.
