Learn more about plans for Falls Park at a public meeting this week.

The Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation Department will host the meeting from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Falls Overlook Cafe, 825 N. Weber Ave., sharing details about the Falls Park master plan, a road map that will guide park development for the next 30 to 50 years.

A short presentation about the plan is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. Attendees also can view displays, renderings and and other visuals.

“The Falls Park master plan is an ambitious vision shaped by community input,” Mike Patten, the city’s park development manager, said in a statement. “It lays out a clear road map to transform Falls Park into a year-round regional destination. Finalizing the plan now feels especially timely with exciting momentum building around new downtown developments.”

The master plan process for Falls Park began in 2021. The plan addresses improving traffic circulation and safety in the park, expanding recreational opportunities and year-round programming, improving river water quality, preserving the park’s history and natural beauty, and enhancing the heart of the park.
