Jazz & Blues Society announces July week of events
The Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society is bringing a weeklong lineup of events in July to celebrate jazz and blues.
From July 10 through July 18 there will be paid and free events each day featuring local and national musicians.

Here’s a look at what to expect:
July 10-18: Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society exhibit
Visit the Visual Arts Center at the Washington Pavilion for an exhibit on the history of JazzFest and the Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society. The exhibit will feature signed JazzFest posters, guitars from the 25th JazzFest anniversary, video montages of past JazzFests, a historical timeline of the organization and more.
July 10: Jazz Crawl
Jazz and blues musicians will perform at venues throughout Sioux Falls.
July 11: Tab Benoit in concert
JazzFest favorite and concert series regular Tab Benoit will perform at The District. Benoit is a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and guitarist.
July 12: The Music Maker in Me
Phil Baker and friend will bring this family-friendly performance to EmBe during its free lunch program.
July 13: Tuesday Tunes Blowout
An evening of live music, drinks and surprises at Severance Brewing Co. It will features the Brian Hanegan Quintet of Brian Hanegan on sax, Jim Speirs on trumpet, Emmanuel Michael on guitar, Dalton Petersen on bass and Bryce Job on drums.
July 14: Pop-up performance from The Hegg Brothers Band
Make your way over to McKennan Park Bandshell for a fun, free outdoor concert featuring The Hegg Brothers Band. It includes Jeremy Hegg on vocals and keys and Jon Hegg on vocals and keys, Jim Speirs on trumpet, Joel Shotwell on saxophone, Andrew Reinartz on bass and Dan Heier on drums.
July 15: Weekly Live Jazz Extravaganza
Live jazz at R Wine Bar & Kitchen includes The Little Big Band featuring Joel Shotwell, CJ Kocher and Ryan Hofer, all on sax; Ken Hoyne on trombone; Jim Speirs and Jeff Soukup, both on trumpet; Jeff Paul on piano; Andrew Reinartz on bass and Dan Heier on drums. Ten percent of all food and drink sales will be donated to Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society.
July 16: Jazz camp performance
Head to O’Gorman High School to hear what kids at jazz camp have worked on all week in their final performance.
July 17: Pop-up event at the Pavilion
There will be a live musical performance in the afternoon plus a meet-and-greet with the executive director and board of directors of Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society.
July 18: Gourmet Wine & Jazz
Gourmet Jazz & Wine is the first event of its kind, held at R Wine Bar & Kitchen and pairing music with food and wine at each course. The connections and themes running through the music, food, and wine will be explained throughout the evening. Music will be provided by Latin Quarter featuring Jim McKinney on vibes, Dan Peterson on guitar, Jim Speirs on trumpet, Mark Law on bass and Bruce Reinhart on Latin percussion. Chef Nicholas Skajewski from Skajewski Catering will be providing the four-course meal. Riccardo Tarabelsi from R Wine Bar will pair the wine. Tickets are limited and available for $150 per person. A portion of the ticket will be considered a donation and tax deductible.
