February marks National Children’s Dental Health Month at Neighborhood Dental
This paid piece is sponsored by Neighborhood Dental.
Each February, the American Dental Association sponsors National Children’s Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health. This monthlong initiative helps parents and caregivers set a strong foundation of good dental habits for their children as they grow.
At Neighborhood Dental, we’re excited to celebrate this special month across our eight South Dakota locations with activities designed to make oral health education fun and engaging for the whole family:
- Crafts to inspire creativity.
- Teaching aids to explain the importance of oral hygiene.
- Fun activities that turn learning into play.
- Exciting giveaways for participating families!
- Community outreaches to local schools and child care centers.
Our goal is to help your family establish healthy habits that last a lifetime.
Healthy habits for parents to improve their kids’ oral health
Healthy habits start at home! Here are some practical tips for parents to ensure their child’s smile stays bright and healthy:
- Brush twice a day: Use a fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Help young children until they can brush effectively on their own.
- Floss daily: Teach your child to clean between their teeth to remove plaque and food particles.
- Limit sugary snacks and drinks: Opt for water, fresh fruits and vegetables as healthier choices.
- Visit the dentist regularly: Schedule routine checkups to help detect and prevent potential issues early.
- Lead by example: Let your child see you practicing good oral hygiene habits daily.
Join the Neighborhood Dental No Cavity Club!
At Neighborhood Dental, we’re committed to making oral health exciting for kids through our No Cavity Club! This fun and motivating program encourages children to prioritize good oral hygiene and creates positive dental experiences.
Here’s how it works:
- Children younger than 16 can join.
- They must complete two consecutive appointments within 14 months without any cavities.
- Eligible members will receive a No Cavity Club T-shirt and a certificate of achievement to celebrate their accomplishment!
The No Cavity Club not only rewards kids for taking care of their teeth but also instills healthy habits they’ll carry into adulthood.
