Big zoo weekend ahead with Zippity Zoo Day, Sensory Sunday

Get ready for a big weekend of fun at the Great Plains Zoo.
Zippity Zoo Day runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 24. The zoo itself is open until 5 p.m. that day.
The event features animal encounters, inflatables, bubble parties, watermelon breaks and other zoo fun – as well as entertainment from musician Phil Baker, juggling, magic and characters for photo-ops.
Special event pricing is in effect for nonmembers and those with Standard memberships. Event admission is included for Gold and Monarch members.

Sensory Sunday is Sunday, June 25, from 8 to 9 a.m.
This hour gives families with sensory considerations a quiet head start on the zoo day without the crowds. Future dates are July 30 and Aug. 27 from 8 to 9 a.m.
As a Kulture City-certified attraction, zoo guests are welcome to request a sensory bag at admissions during any visit. These include fidget toys and noise-blocking headphones, aimed at helping guests with sensory needs to have a more pleasant experience.
During this early hour, zookeepers will be letting many animals into their outdoor habitats, so not everyone will be outside yet. However, there will be plenty of animal friends to see and a peaceful experience for those who don’t do well with crowds. The bubbles and games will be set up at the picnic shelter.
Tickets for early entry must be purchased online for nonmembers. Sensory Sunday admission is included with all levels of zoo membership.
