March 7-23: A lot of ‘Luck’

The interplay between chance and destiny takes center stage in Serendipity Studio’s latest art exhibit, “Luck.” The collection features the works of established and emerging artists. Serendipity Studio is on the mezzanine level in Shriver Square at 230 S. Phillips Ave. The exhibit will be open regular studio hours or by appointment. Admission is free.

March 8: Red River Trio

The upcoming installment of the Popplers Music Artist Series will feature the University of North Dakota’s Red River Trio. The trio, all UND students, includes Maren Schettler on flute, Eduardo Garcia on cello and Jose Renato Costa Silva on piano and features the music of  Debussy, Gable, Saint-Saëns, Vivaldi, Chopin, Fisher and Piazzolla. It will begin with an open house at 6:30 p.m. Friday and the performance at 7 p.m. at Popplers Music, 1119 W. 41st St. The event is free.

March 9: Girls day out

Farmhouse Market, 121 S. Franklin Ave., will host a Girls Day Out, including a visit from the Easter Bunny from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The day will include in-store specials and classes. Register early for one of two palette knife Easter Bunny painting classes at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. by calling 605-366-9789. Cost for the classes is $15. There will be Easter cookies.

March 9-10: Amazing young women

South Dakota Miss Amazing is a nonprofit organization that supports girls and women with disabilities, striving to empower and uplift them while building confidence and self-advocacy skills. To mark its 10th year, SDMA is planning AMPLIFY shows Saturday and Sunday, both beginning at 5 p.m., at Augustana University’s Hamre Hall inside the Humanities Building. During the day, the young women participate in interviews, skills practice and more, and during the final show, they share what they have learned. Each girl will share a passion presentation during the talent part of the show. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased at the door.

March 10: Oscar gala

Prepare for a star-studded evening at Harvester Kitchen by Bryan’s Oscars Gala at 6 p.m. Sunday. In true Oscar fashion, Chef Bryan Moscatello and the team are crafting a menu based on your favorite dishes over the past two years. You can reserve your seat here.

March 12: Talk about the animals

The Science Pub will host Stephanie Arne, conservation director for the Great Plains Zoo and the Butterfly House & Aquarium, at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Severance Brewing, 701 N. Phillips Ave. Arne will focus on the African Penguin Nest Project, a collaborative effort to provide artificial nests to those birds. She also will share the work the zoo and Butterfly House are doing with endangered black-footed ferrets, Dakota skipper butterflies, snow leopards and black rhinos. Arne is a former host of “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom” and recently appeared on “The Drew Barrymore Show.”
