Flow and Paddle returns for summer season on Lake Lorraine

Flow and Paddle is back for its third season on Lake Lorraine, and while many old favorite activities are returning, the company is hoping to add a few new ones.

Flow and Paddle offers stand-up paddleboard, or SUP, yoga classes, as well as kayak and other water activity rentals. Owner Cassandra Willett said she hopes to expand stand-up paddleboard offerings even further as the Lake Lorraine area grows.

“We’re adding some new challenges with SUP yoga,” Willet said. “So if some people have partners and they want to get out there and try some poses, we can set that up for them. I also really want to stress the idea of group classes for bridal parties, office groups or anyone else.”

Flow and Paddle began offering classes four years ago, traveling to different bodies of water in the Sioux Falls area, but since has adopted a permanent spot at Lake Lorraine, which Willett said has given it a chance to expand and create a more established environment on the lake. She is hoping to start offering off-water classes sometime during the summer.

“I don’t have set dates for anything yet, but I’ll do youth classes and also just ‘anybody’ classes for yoga taking place off the water,” Willett said. “We’ve been really lucky with how Lake Lorraine is developing and giving us more freedom.”

Flow and Paddle also has been offering Big Sioux River tours by SUP and kayak since it opened. Last year, the river levels were too low for many tours to take place, but Willett said she hopes to have a longer season this year, with more rainfall giving those interested more availability.

With new developments happening around the Lake Lorraine area, as well as popular places such as Dave & Buster’s opening in the past few months, Willett said she anticipates new traffic around Flow and Paddle.

“I’m just really just getting excited too for this warm weather and having Dave & Buster’s around the lake. It will help with more foot traffic and just traffic around the lake,” Willett said. “And then also with the condos going up north, I think that’s really gonna help us in the future. … We want people to get the idea ‘I could live there and I could also do these type of things there too.’”
