4 new things to eat this week

We cover new restaurant openings literally all the time at our sister site, SiouxFalls.Business, which also means we can dig into the menu so you know what’s in store for you. Here are our four picks to eat this week.

While you might head to the new Myrtle’s Fur Vault & Bar that’s now part of the expanded Parker’s Bistro for a cocktail, you can find something to nibble on too. The bar has its own appetizer menu, including these Chevre-Stuffed Juanita Peppers. The pickled peppers are filled with goat cheese mousse. The dish is vegetarian and gluten-free. Consider pairing it with the bar’s signature cocktail, Myrtle’s Spitz, which is Italian tomato gin, French vermouth, elderflower tonic and sparkling wine.

Homestyle cooking is the big draw at Crack’d Pot Restaurant, and there’s a new breakfast special that’s available from 8 to 11 a.m. daily. Harvey’s French Toast Breakfast Sandwich starts with two slices of Texas toast dipped in French toast batter and grilled. It’s stacked with two over-medium eggs, melted American and Swiss cheeses and two sausage patties. It’s named after baby Harvey Andersen, the fourth generation of the family-owned business.

A new menu item at Wileys takes a summertime favorite and puts it on a crust. The Chicken Caprese Flatbread is a sourdough crust with sliced tomato, basil, mozzarella, marinated balsamic onion and grilled chicken.

How could we not end with a frozen treat to cool down? Stensland Family Farms is featuring sweet corn ice cream at its east and central retail stores and had fun topping it with “butter” — well, butter brickle ice cream. Side note: The west-side store is closed for the season.
