The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.

Sept. 28: Bark in the Park

Help raise funds for homeless and neglected pets in Sioux Falls and surrounding communities with 3K and 5K fun runs to benefit the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society. The event is from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Pasley Park, 2301 S. Southeastern Ave. Pre-registration closes at 8 a.m. Friday, but you can register the day of the event for $45. Run or walk with family, friends and, of course, your dog. Connect with pet vendors, and enjoy pet contests with the chance to win prizes.

Sept. 28: Paws & Polish

Sticking with the canine theme, how about a dog wash – at a car wash? Stop by Schulte Subaru at 85th Street and Minnesota Avenue from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday for the Paws & Polish Spa event organized by Tea Storm Chasers. Get your pet sparkling clean for $10, or treat your furry friend to a dog nail trim for $10. Proceeds from every dog wash will go toward the organization’s pet disaster relief efforts.

Sept. 28: A Visual Feast

Shop diverse work from local artists at the third annual A Visual Feast, an art market on the patio and east parking lot of Look’s Marketplace, 500 E. 69th St. Enjoy a showcase of handmade work, as well as live performers from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Sept. 28: Stacks and Steins

Immerse yourself in the spirit of Oktoberfest with a celebration that combines the best of German culture, food and brews from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn City Centre. Enjoy German cuisine, beers and live music, plus test your strength and endurance in a stein-holding competition, or showcase your skills in a game of Hammerschlagen.

Sept. 29: Sioux Empire Music Swap

Here’s your chance to sell or trade music gear. The fall swap meet is being held outdoors on the back patio at Remedy Brewing Co. at 8th & Railroad Center from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Find guitars, amps, horns, drums and other instruments, plus professional sound equipment, hi-fi gear, even records, tapes, CDs and more. Click here for details.

Sept. 29: Sunday in the Vineyard

Enjoy the unseasonably warm weather with the last Sunday in the Vineyard event for this year at Wilde Prairie Winery, 48052 259th St., north of Brandon. Enjoy live music, wine, beer or a nonalcoholic beverage from 2 to 5 p.m. This is a child- and pet-friendly event.
