Nov. 30: Ceili dancing

Feel like kicking up your heels? Ceili (pronounced KAY-lee) is an Irish social dance that will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Old Courthouse Museum. The dances will be taught to live music, and the moves called out. Beginners are welcome.

Dec. 1: Winter Concert Series

Kyle Knutson creates a sound that separates him from most singer/songwriter acts of today. His music can be heard from noon to 1 p.m. Friday during the Old Courthouse Museum Winter Concert Series, which features local and regional performers. The series runs on Fridays through February in the museum’s historic courtroom. Admission is free. You can bring a lunch to eat while enjoying the show.

Dec. 1-3: Jingle and mingle

North Pole Jingle and Mingle is the theme for the next Winter Weekend Downtown at the 10th Street Mural from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. A pop-up meal truck from Chick-fil-A will be there from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. The Black Iris coffee truck will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Dakota Entertainment will present Carol-aoke from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. And don’t forget the glice bumper cars.

Dec. 2: Blanket-making party

The 18th annual Project Warm-up Blanket-Making Party will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary, 1610 S. Lake Ave. It’s the biggest blanket-making party of the year. Come make blankets, or drop off blankets that already have been completed. It’s a come when you can — stay as long as you wish event.

Dec. 2: Bull riding

Billion Auto will present the Raise ’em Rank Bull Riding, “The Buck Before Christmas,” on Saturday at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. Gates open at 4 p.m.; the bull riding will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance at Haegle’s Western Wear or $20 at the door. Kids 12 and younger are admitted free.

Dec. 5: Chanukah cooking

Let’s Celebrate Chanukah, an event by Plum’s Cooking Co., will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the store, 401 E. Eighth St. Chanukah, or Hanukkah, is the Jewish “festival of lights” celebrated in the winter with a nightly menorah lighting and foods. Chef Fatemeh Silverberg will demonstrate a traditional meal, including matzo ball soup, braised brisket, potato latkes with sour cream and homemade applesauce. and jelly doughnuts.
