June 30: Acton Academy Children’s Business Fair

Acton Academy is hosting its second annual Children’s Business Fair on Thursday. Thirty booths featuring businesses founded, owned and operated by kids age 6 to 14 will be present at the business fair, and an awards ceremony will follow. Expect everything from art to food available at the market, which will run from 4 to 6 p.m. The fair will take place at Lake Lorraine alongside the Lake Lorraine Farmers Market. June 30: Invisible Threads Gala

Join some of the most talented ballet dancers in the country for the South Dakota Ballet’s third major performance. The show, “Invisible Threads,” will feature three world premieres and artists such as dance legend Juliet Doherty. It will be accompanied by a live orchestra. The show is described as contemporary ballet work and will explore themes from conspiracy theories to the words of author Orson Scott. The show starts at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Washington Pavilion. June 30: Cruisin’ for a Cause Car Show

Got a cool car you’d like to show off? Just interested in seeing some unique cars? Head to Amy Stockberger Real Estate at 610 W. 49th St. for the Cruisin’ for a Cause Car Show from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Entry fee for the event is $5. Cheezy Noodlez Gourmet Mac &Cheese and The SDSU Ice Cream will be serving food and treats. Anyone who would like to show a car needs to be in the parking lot by 5:15 p.m., and all proceeds from the event will go to the Sioux Falls Area CASA Program, which provides trained volunteer advocates for abused and neglected children in the court system.

July 1: Innoskate Skatedeck Art Show

Head to Rehfeld’s Art & Framing on Friday to see more than 70 local artists’ take on painting a skate deck. You’ll see techniques and styles of every kind at this event, which is a collaboration with the Innoskate Festival that takes place July 7-9. Parts of the show also will take place downstairs in a venue called The Underground; this will be the first show in the new space. The artist’s reception will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at Rehfeld’s, 431 N. Phillips Ave.

July 4: Sioux Falls Independence Day Celebration

Celebrate Independence Day downtown with the city of Sioux Falls. Activities and events Monday include a 5K fun run/walk, a parade down Phillips Avenue and a free picnic for the first 3,000 attendees. Mogen’s Heroes and the Municipal Band will perform during the day. Most activities will take place at Falls Park, beginning at 7:30 a.m. for the fun run. All month: Harry Potter Portkey Scavenger Hunt

Do you have a Harry Potter fan in the family? Celebrate his birthday month with REACH Literacy by participating in a Portkey Scavenger Hunt. The hunt will begin Tuesday but won’t end until Harry Potter’s birthday July 31. You’ll search for Portkeys all around Sioux Falls, beginning at REACH Literacy, where you’ll receive a wand and your first clue. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here.
