June 23: Summer Mocktail Mixer

Join the Union Gospel Mission and Health Connect for a Summer Mocktail Mixer event. You’ll get the chance to try cocktails from several different mixologists and and watch as winners are judged and then announced. The mixer will take place at the Union Gospel Mission Art Studio, beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday. Drink tasting will begin at 6:30 p.m., and winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m. The event is RSVP-only, and you can RSVP by emailing elly@ugmsiouxfalls.com or by calling 605-334-6732.

June 23: Intro Sioux Falls

If you’ve recently moved to Sioux Falls, you’ll love this chance to learn a bit more about your new home. Intro Sioux Falls is hosting its first event Thursday. Organized by the Young Professionals Network of the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, Intro Sioux Falls will feature information on attractions, neighborhoods and resources in the Sioux Falls area. The event will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at Great Shots, 2505 W. Benson Road, and is free and open to the public.

June 23: Vern Eide Game & Movie Night

Head to Vern Eide Motorcars on Thursday for a night of movies, games and food. The Vern Eide Game & Movie Night will take place at the Vern Eide Mitsubishi dealership at 4501 E. Arrowhead Parkway and will include a screening of the movie “Zootopia” as well as interactive games for the entire family. Food from The Lunch Box also will be available for purchase during the night. Games will begin at 6 p.m., as well as live music from DJ Jer, and the movie will begin at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

June 24: Green Altar Album Release

Celebrate the release of local band Green Altar’s newest album at Icon Event Hall on Friday. The band, which describes itself as a mix of “black metal, doom, sludge and punk/hardcore,” will perform songs from the self-titled album starting at 8 p.m. Special guest Hooks also will perform. The event will take place inside the venue, and tickets will be sold for $10 at the door.

June 25: Planty Popup Sale

If you’ve got an interest in plants or vintage planters, Bobilu Vintage is hosting an event that’s sure to catch your eye. The Planty Popup Sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and will feature tropical plants, one-of-a-kind planters and more, including some that co-owners Bobbie and Kristie have repurposed themselves. Bobilu Vintage’s usual booth at I-29 Antique Mall in Tea will not be the location for this event; the sale will take place at an alternative location. June 25: Tween Trek: Backpacking 101

Has your child been looking to take a backpacking adventure sometime soon? Get them started on important skills early with the Tween Trek: Backpacking 101 event hosted by Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation. This event, aimed for those age 10 to 12, will give your child the chance to use their communication, teamwork, navigation and leadership skills as they “backpack” through the trails, beginning at Tomar Park. The hike will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, and registrations costs $5. You can register here.

June 25: 13th annual 605 Summer Classic

The 13th annual 605 Summer Classic is set for Saturday, and if you like local beer, this is the event for you. Taking place at the 8th & Railroad Center, the Summer Classic will feature unlimited beer tastings as well as live music, food trucks, South Dakota trivia and more. Tickets that include beer tasting are $40, and nondrinking tickets are $10. The event will take place from noon to 4 p.m., and tickets are available tickets are available here.
