Jan. 6: East Bank reception

The featured member for January at East Bank Art Gallery, 401 E. Eighth St., is Glen Bruns, whose artwork focuses on barns. Guest artist Greg DenOtter also will share his new gunpowder art. Both collections will be on display beginning Friday through month’s end. A reception will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Jan. 6: Snow & Go

Looking to do something in the snow besides shoveling? The Outdoor Campus is hosting Snow & Go from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at Sertoma Park. It’s a chance to go cross-country skiing and snowshoeing — and The Outdoor Campus will provide the equipment. All you need to do is dress for the weather.

Jan. 6: Friday at the Pavilion

It’s the first Friday in January, and that means admission to the Kirby Science Discovery Center and the Visual Arts Center at the Washington Pavilion is free from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Check in at the box office when you arrive to receive a wristband. Children 12 and  younger must be accompanied by an adult. Special Wells Fargo CineDome admission prices apply to movies during Free First Friday.

Jan. 6: The Cartwright Brothers

Music and comedy duo The Cartwright Brothers will bring original songs and acoustic and country music to the Old Courthouse Museum, 200 W. Sixth St. The free event runs from noon to 1 p.m. Friday.

Jan. 6: Art show

It’s back but indoors this time. Last summer, Icon Event Hall and DaDa Gastropub, 420 N. Main Ave., hosted a monthly art show out on the parking lot. This time, The Lot — Winter Style will be indoors, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. What stayed the same: All sales benefit the artists. The event is free to attend.

Jan. 8: Womxn’s Day

Womxn’s Day is back on Sunday, when womxn age 12 and older are invited to take part in a day of winter sports. A $50 entry includes a 90-minute group beginner or intermediate ski or snowboard lesson starting at 9 a.m. followed by lunch and a complimentary beverage. Sponsors are Great Bear Ski Valley and Spoke-n-Sport. Book a ticket at greatbearpark.theonlysky.com. A lift ticket is required for an extra fee. Womxn’s Day is open to women, trans and gender-expansive folks. Can’t make it this weekend? A second event is Feb. 5.

Jan. 10: Tubing Tuesday

Stockwell Engineering will sponsor half-price tubing on Tuesdays through January at Great Bear Ski Valley. Tickets cost $8. Great Bear recommends that children younger than 4 or shorter than 42 inches do not tube. Using a helmet also is recommended, and they’re available to rent.
