The only thing better than the basketball you’re about to watch is the program behind it. At George McGovern Middle School, everyone who has all their work completed gets to party a bit to end the week. And those with zero tardy slips get entered in a drawing to play Minute to Win It.

Enter eight grader Bryce, who was selected last week and went on to dominate, making a layup, free throw, 3-pointer and half-court shot in one minute to earn a $50 Scheels gift card. Thanks to Scheels and the Promising Futures Fund. Talk about nothing but a win. Check it out:

R.F. Pettigrew Elementary students were challenged to read over 75,000 books in order for Mr. D to dye his hair purple and sleep on the roof of the school. Well, they did it! His hair is purple — and he came to school in pajamas, so we’re thinking he did too.

How fun is this? John Harris Elementary celebrated their principal Mrs. Dobberpuhl’s birthday by helping her get ready for camping season.
