Road Report: Week of July 5

Construction season is here, so we’re giving you a weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next.

What’s done

Good news for Louise Avenue drivers: The area north of 41st Street should fully reopen by the middle of the week.

And the work in the area of 57th and Louise should be open by the end of the week.

Work on 10th Street near Prairie Avenue is scheduled to be done by the middle of the week — same with work on 11th Street near Summit Avenue.

Northbound traffic has returned to Marion Road between 41st and 57th streets and will now switch to the other side of the street.

What’s underway

Concrete work starts this week on intersection improvements at 69th Street and Sycamore Avenue, which has been underway since April. It includes widening part of 69th, paving the intersection and installing underground utility and street lighting. The plan is to be done this fall.

Concrete repairs began on eastbound 49th Street between Solberg Avenue and Empire Place last week. Work is expected to be done by the end of this week.

Work on 57th Street between Veterans Parkway and Six Mile Road began last week. This is the first phase of a multiyear project to install underground utilities and widen 57th in this area ahead of development. 57th Street is closed in this segment and will reopen later this fall.

New this week

Concrete repairs will begin today on 41st Street between Shirley and Westport avenues. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction. Work is expected to be done in two to three weeks.

Bahnson Avenue will be reduced to one lane at 11th Street starting today. Stop signs will be in place, and traffic will need to alternate through the intersection.

Bridge maintenance work is scheduled to begin today on 57th Street about half-way between Cliff and Southeastern avenues. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction. Work is expected to take about one to two weeks.
