Road Report: Nov. 6
Construction season is here, and so is our weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next.
What’s underway
Marion Road: Work is nearing completion on Marion Road between 258th and 259th streets — north of Amazon.

Crews are finishing up the grading work along the roadway and paving the intersection of Marion Road and Memory Lane on the south end of the project. All work should be complete in about two weeks.

Benson & I-229: The 2023 portion of the work on the Benson Road and Interstate 229 interchange will be complete soon.

Crews are working on sidewalks, bridge barriers and retaining walls.

Two lanes of traffic in each direction will be open in about two weeks for the winter before traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction again for the 2024 construction season.

All work on this project is expected to be complete in the spring of 2025.

Career Avenue: Career Avenue closed between Marion Road and Frank Boyce Drive on Nov. 1 to allow crews to work on underground utilities. This work is expected to be complete in about one week.
26th & Sycamore: Alternating lane closures began at 26th Street and Sycamore Avenue on Nov. 2 to allow crews to adjust the manholes and valves in the intersection. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times. This work is expected to be complete in about two weeks.
Minnesota Avenue: The inside northbound and southbound lanes and the center turn lane on Minnesota Avenue closed between 14th and 18th streets Nov. 3 to allow crews to perform work on the sanitary sewer. This work is expected to be complete in two to three days.
What’s next
Beginning today:
Marion Road: The outside southbound lane of Marion Road will be closed between Dardanella Road and 26th Street to allow crews to perform sidewalk repairs. This work is expected to be complete in about one week.
Russell & Minnesota: The outside westbound lane on Russell Street will be closed at Minnesota Avenue to allow crews to perform concrete work. The outside southbound lane of Minnesota also will be closed north of Russell as part of this work. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times. This work is expected to be complete in about three weeks.
11th & Dakota: The far left eastbound lane on 11th Street and the far left northbound lane on Dakota Avenue will be closed at the northwest corner of the intersection to allow construction crews to upgrade the ADA-accessible curb ramp. This work is expected to be complete in about two weeks.
Minnesota Avenue: Beginning Tuesday, the outside southbound lane and the southbound right turn lane on Minnesota Avenue will be closed just north of 81st Street to allow crews to perform utility work. This work is expected to be complete in about one day.
