What’s home unless you make it your own? My 605 takes you inside the lives, loves and little secrets of those who call South Dakota – area code 605 – home.

This week’s My 605 is Destinie Marshall, owner and CEO of Discover Realty Group and owner of pigeon Home Girl.

My home in the 605 is: The Cathedral District, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The biggest reason I live in the 605 is: The opportunity Sioux Falls has to offer is unimaginable. I moved away briefly in 2019, and during that stint my eyes were opened to the opportunity Sioux Falls has for young professionals and entrepreneurs. The business community in Sioux Falls has very limited barriers to entry no matter where you come from. I have loved seeing the community grow through the last 26 years, with nothing but massive growth in the near future.

After home, I spend the most time here: GreatLife, downtown, Kirby Dog Park with my pups Captain and Major or at my investment properties.

When I need to get away, you’ll find me: In Sioux Falls, you’ll see me on the bike trails going for walks in the summer to get away from the hustle and bustle. Otherwise, I’m always traveling to somewhere new. My favorite places to travel to are Iceland, Germany and/or somewhere tropical.

The best meal I ever ate in the 605 was at: My favorite meal in Sioux Falls is the Parmesan-crusted chicken from Tavern 180 on the south side of town. It’s my go-to lunch spot for when I’m getting lunch during the week with a friend.

My go-to coffee shop is: La Luna Cafe, I love the atmosphere and the employees/owners are so welcoming. You cannot go wrong with a caramel latte and their breakfast pizza.

My favorite place to grab an adult beverage in the 605 is: When I’m feeling fancy, you’ll see me with a cocktail at Treasury. When I’m wanting to relax and sit outside, you might find me in summertime during happy hour at Tommy Jacks on the patio.

When I need to experience the great outdoors, you’ll find me: Newton Hills or just the Sioux Falls bike trails — perfect place to go just to clear your mind.

The spot I’d recommend for a date is: A great date idea would be dinner downtown followed by a movie at the State Theatre. It’s such a great venue.

The best pizza in the 605 is: I’m a little biased because I worked there for six years in high school and college, but Boss’ Pizza & Chicken will always have a soft spot in my heart.

When my friends and I get together, you’ll probably find us: Somewhere downtown or at my house. I love hosting parties or game nights at my house. Plus, it has an amazing view of downtown!

The place you can never go wrong taking kids is: No kids 😀 — but my pups sure love the splash park in Harrisburg!

When I want to meet new people in the 605 I go: I always attend the YPN events; it has been a great place for me to meet new faces in Sioux Falls. I have met so many amazing people through YPN that have shaped me into the person I am today.

My best memory in the 605 is: I have so many happy memories in Sioux Falls. The happiest time was returning home after moving away for a short period. The community welcomed me back with open arms, and I was able to continue to build my real estate business bigger and better than I could have ever imagined. I moved home thinking I would have to rebuild from nothing, but in two short months I was up and running like I had never missed a beat. I have not been back for over two years, and it feels like I never left.

The one thing I’m least crazy about in the 605 is: Sioux Falls is a place I call home and I plan to forever. There is always one week out of the year I question that decision. It’s usually in January or February when it’s negative 20 degrees with 50 mile-an-hour winds.

And finally, life in photos. Here are the top three photos that sum up My 605:
