My 605: April Meyerink

This week’s edition features April Meyerink, business development officer for Black Hills Federal Credit Union and the owner of pigeon Penelope, “or according to her, Princess Penelope.”

My home in the 605 is: The east side of Sioux Falls in the best neighborhood, Copper Creek!

The biggest reason I live in the 605 is: Hands down, the people!!

After home, I spend the most time here: Probably at some sort of a community event or nonprofit dinner.

When I need to get away, you’ll find me: Sitting next to a beach/body of water, relaxing in a spa or binging a good Netflix series. LOL.

The best meal I ever ate in the 605 was at: This is a hard one. I’ve had so many good meals, but my ultimate favorite is the delicious petite filet with grilled asparagus and jalapeno creamed corn at Morrie’s Steakhouse!

My go-to coffee shop is: Josiah’s. You run into so many people, and you get to meet a few new ones as well.

My favorite place to grab an adult beverage in the 605 is: I hate to divulge my secret, but we love going to the Alibi on the east side of town. They have the absolute best team that works there.

When I need to experience the great outdoors, you’ll find me: Kayaking on a local lake, throwing a few bean bags or hacking it up on a golf course.

The spot I’d recommend for a date is: Anywhere downtown Sioux Falls. Or at any one of our fine restaurants and breweries!

The best pizza in the 605 is: It’s a tie between Godfather’s and Pizza di Paolo. I know, they are completely different styles of pizza. LOL.

When my friends and I get together, you’ll probably find us: Grabbing dinner with a few drinks or going somewhere to listen to live music.

The place you never can go wrong taking kids is: The Washington Pavilion or the Butterfly House & Aquarium.

When I want to meet new people in the 605 I go: Downtown! It’s the mecca of meeting new and interesting people from all over!

My best memory in the 605 is: Getting married at the Washington Pavilion or walking out of the courthouse after officially adopting my stepdaughter!

The one thing I’m least crazy about in the 605 is: The wind, but the humidity is a close second.
