‘Egg your yard’ this Easter with new venture that started with cancer patients
Holly Anderson-Hintz has a bit of the Easter Bunny in her.
Her latest venture through her business Joyful Journeys by Holly – “Egg My Yard” – offers to turn your yard into a ready-made Easter egg hunt.
“We’re bringing in the plastic Easter eggs, and we’re customizing Easter baskets if they want us to, and we can also do yard decorations with Easter bunnies and eggs,” said Anderson-Hintz, who started her business three years ago.
Eggs are filled with candy, small toys and tattoos. Pricing generally ranges from $20 to $60 depending on how many eggs you’d like hidden.

“Most people are having us come the night before Easter,” Anderson-Hintz said, adding she’s rounding up friends to help her.
There also are options for custom baskets and even Easter-inspired charcuterie-like arrangements of candy.

“We’ll make it a joyful, happy holiday,” she said.
Her business has its roots in bringing joy a very different way, though.
“I started Joyful Journeys three years ago when my mom was diagnosed with cancer,” Anderson-Hintz said. “I started doing chemo parties for her. So every time she had chemo, I came up with a theme and decorated her chemo room, and the nurses loved it.”
Word spread, and she started to be hired to do the same for other patients.

One patient was struggling with the idea of going through chemotherapy, and the nurses enlisted Hintz to help.
“He a farmer with cows, so they asked, ‘Can you do something?’ ” she said.
She did.
When he walked in for his first treatment, the room was themed “Moove over cancer” with straw bales and other farm-like decor.

“He walked in and said it feels like home,” she said. “So his family hired me to decorate his room every time. That was my really fun one, where the nurses showed him it could be more happy.”
COVID-19 changed all that. Anderson-Hintz could no longer go into the hospital to decorate rooms.
“So I started doing yards,” she said.
It led Joyful Journeys to decorate yards and create custom baskets for many occasions.

“Just trying to do anything to bring joy to people and make life easier,” she said. “Everyone is going through some kind of journey.”
