There’s a new addition to the Butterfly House & Aquarium just in time for the holiday weekend.

The newly renovated Under the Dock display in the Aquarium Gallery features an open-top display with a lifelike dock replica and exotic animals such as the spotfin hogfish, princess parrotfish and yellow stingrays.

Yellow rays are smaller than many of their other stingray counterparts, maxing out at around 14 inches in diameter. Primarily found along the western Atlantic Ocean from North Carolina down through the Gulf of Mexico, this species prefers shallow waters with sandy or muddy bottoms.

“Yellow rays like to spend time burrowed in their substrate, utilizing their 360-degree vision to spot potential predators,” the organization said in a statement.

“We are thrilled to bring such a unique and diverse ecosystem into the conservation conversation at the BHA with this new exhibit.”

The Butterfly House & Aquarium is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. but closed Thanksgiving. Click here for information on visiting.
