Amplify support of EmBe’s mission with generous Giving Tuesday partnership
This paid piece is sponsored by EmBe.
You can be the difference that enables parents to afford child care, empowering them to stay in the workforce and also provide for their family.
Or you can be the person who ensures a woman looking for full-time employment gets help with her resume and receives an updated professional wardrobe to feel confident in an interview.
Maybe you’ll make the difference between a child learning the lifesaving skill of swimming.
Or you’ll be the one to ensure a child isn’t home alone when school isn’t in session.
Anything you can afford to give makes a difference at EmBe, and this Giving Tuesday on Dec. 3, your gift will go even farther.

Thrivent generously has stepped up and will match your donation at $1 for every $2 raised, up to an additional $20,000 to help EmBe achieve its Giving Tuesday goal of $40,000. That means on Dec. 3, your $25 donation will go 50 percent farther, amplifying your impact and making an even greater difference in the lives of the women, children and families served at EmBe.
“Giving Tuesday is a day to celebrate the amazing community that fuels our mission,” EmBe CEO Kerri Tietgen said.
“We’re grateful for every donor, participant and volunteer who brings our vision to life.”
The support of corporate partners such as Thrivent is vital, she added.
“The purpose of Thrivent is to empower lives of service and faith, and the mission of EmBe is to uplift the potential in children, women and families through opportunities that empower all,” Tietgen said.
For her, the relationship is especially meaningful because she has served on the Thrivent Member Network board of directors the past eight years.
“Each of our organizations has a mission to give back and strengthen our communities,” Tietgen said. “I’ve been honored to serve on the board and am so grateful that Thrivent has chosen to support EmBe in such an impactful way this Giving Tuesday.”
For Thrivent, “Kerri has been a thoughtful and insightful sounding board to represent and bring ideas to our board based on past experiences and history with not only Thrivent but our Member Network’s board initiatives,” said Jenn Rechnagel, engagement specialist for Thrivent – Midwest Rockies Advisor Group.

Teresa Rasmussen, president and CEO of Thrivent, and EmBe CEO Kerri Tietgen.
“We were drawn to partner with an organization with a strong sense of community, education and personal development — all things that Thrivent values in our own mission to empower our clients to make an impact and support their desire to give and serve in communities wherever and however they choose.”
Thrivent’s Member Network in the South Dakota Plains leads the country with the highest percentage of locally engaged members serving their communities through Thrivent’s generosity programs.
“We hope to inspire both Thrivent advocates and EmBe supporters to make a greater impact in supporting the mission of EmBe by amplifying their generosity with our challenge match programs,” Rechnagel said.
Giving Tuesday events
Celebrate Giving Tuesday with EmBe on Dec. 3:
Enjoy coffee and conversations at Josiah’s
Start your Giving Tuesday at Josiah’s Coffeehouse, Cafe & Bakery in downtown Sioux Falls with a free cup of coffee from 6:30 to 9 a.m. courtesy of EmBe and Thrivent. Meet a friend, catch up with a colleague or just stop in at 104 W. 12th St. It’s the perfect chance to pay it forward by donating to EmBe on-site at its booth.
Swim for the mission
Here’s an especially fun way to give back – take a dip in the EmBe pool downtown, and swim laps or walk the length of it as part of a Swim-A-Thon that runs Dec. 1-3 all day. Find at least two pledges – it could be yourself, family, friends or co-workers – to make a flat dollar amount donation, a $1 per length donation or both. Track and record the lengths you swim or walk. Register for the Swim-A-Thon here.
All programs at EmBe rely on donor support. If EmBe has touched your life this year or over the course of its 100-year history, please consider giving back to help sustain and expand EmBe programs. A 24-hour giving link will be available Dec. 3: Give Here.
If you have any questions about making your tax-deductible donation or would like to make a verbal commitment, please contact Rachel Gross at [email protected]. If you would like to make a year-end gift to EmBe, you can do so at embe.org/giving.
