May 22: Friday market
Stop by Pomegranate Market at Cherapa Place on North Reid Place from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday for Pomegranate’s Friday Night Farmer’s Market. It will include live music, activities for the kids and local vendors from the area.

May 22-24: Brandon celebration
Looking for a weekend of activities? Celebration United Methodist Church and Mac’s Carnival and Attractions are partnering on Brandon’s Big Celebration at McHardy Park, 721 S. McHardy Road. It will include carnival rides, games, a car show and food. LouBa’s Lunchwagon will be there Friday evening and Breaking Burrito food truck on Saturday and Sunday. A roll-up car show will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Bring a baby item to receive a coupon for $3 off a wristband for carnival rides. Hours and wristband prices are 6 to 11 p.m. Friday for $30, 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday for $35 and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday for $30. Admission to the event is free.

May 23: Art market
An outdoor art market featuring original artwork and artful activities will take place on four Saturdays this summer, and it will begin this weekend. The Falls Art Market will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the east side of the Levitt Shell along North Metli Place. Parking is free at Raven Industries, LSS, The Steel District ramp, public lots, Fifth Street and north on Main Avenue. Upcoming markets will happen on the fourth Saturday of June, July and August.

May 23: Summer Celebration
Kick off the summer with a celebration at the Great Plains Zoo from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The event will include train and carousel rides, zookeeper chats, hula lessons and vendor activities. You can purchase tickets here. Admission is included with Monarch memberships.

May 27: Live music
Dylan Nicholson of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Eric Patterson of Lodi, California, formed The Turkey Buzzards in Morro Bay, California, and have performed with musicians like John R. Miller, Robert Earl Keen, The Deslondes and White Buffalo since then. They started their tour last week for their new album “Dog in the Sun.” The duo will appear at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Phil’s Pub, 106 S. Indiana Ave.

Coming up: June 6
Almost Home Canine Rescue is hosting a downtown Sioux Falls pub event to help the animals it rescues. Paws & Pours: Rescue, Raffles & Brews will run from 2 to 6 p.m. June 6 at Remedy Brewing Co., 401 E. Eighth St. There will be raffles and prizes, professional photography sessions, games and activities, local vendors and a chance to meet adoptable dogs. Raffle drawings will begin at 5:30 p.m., but you don’t have to be present to win. Tickets are available here.
