This paid event listing is sponsored by SculptureWalk Sioux Falls.

It’s the ultimate foodie fundraiser: The Taste of Sioux Falls, which returns next month with your chance to sample from the city’s best as you support SculptureWalk.

“The Taste of Sioux Falls is a culinary dining experience,” said Koni Schiller, the event’s co-chair. “It’s a chance to come and have fun on the Mary W. Sommervold Hall stage of the Washington Pavilion while we celebrate almost 20 years of sculptures gracing the streets of Sioux Falls.”

Held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Washington Pavilion, The Taste will offer tasting-size bites from 11 area chefs representing:

  • CH Patisserie
  • Crave
  • En Place Catering
  • Look’s Marketplace
  • M.B. Haskett Delicatessen
  • Minervas/Vanguard Hospitality
  • Ode to Food & Drinks
  • Parker’s Bistro
  • Prairie C
  • R Wine Bar & Kitchen
  • The Treasury

“The Taste is a unique culinary event,” co-chair Candi Grossenburg said. “It features our very talented chefs, fine wines and local craft beers. And best of all, proceeds help to fund SculptureWalk – one of the country’s best free public art exhibitions.”

SculptureWalk not only lives downtown but manages sites in Vermillion and Watertown and at USD, USF and Avera. Throughout all the sites that SculptureWalk Sioux Falls manages, it oversees approximately 120 sculptures each year. The downtown Sioux Falls program is known as “the largest annually rotating public art program in the nation.” The organization is managed by Washington Pavilion Management Inc.

The Taste of Sioux Falls is the only fundraiser for SculptureWalk, “so it’s incredibly important that the event is successful,” said Chelsea Cronin, the director of development for WPMI. “This is such a unique program, bringing in artists from around the country to display their work. Not only does our own community love it, but we are so fortunate to share this cultural gem with visitors as well. We rely on the generosity of our community, both corporate partners and individuals, to help us fulfill our mission. Through their support, we are able to bring incredible art, compensate the artists and expand our footprint.”

According to the South Dakota Department of Tourism, downtown Sioux Falls sees nearly 500,000 out-of-town visitors annually.

“We are seeing these folks vote for People’s Choice, leave comments and participate in our programming,” SculptureWalk executive director Brandon Hanson said.

“The mission of the organization is ‘Art to the People,’ and it is dedicated to enriching the environments of all people,” Hanson said. “Our organization supports hundreds of artists that are both local and span across the globe. SculptureWalk is truly a representation of the community, tourism and artists all coming together for an effort that is highly positive and healing for all who experience it.”
