Nov. 26: Thanksgroovin’ Eve

The Social, 301 S. Thompson Ave., will serve up the Tara Faber Band from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday. Doors open at 6 p.m. The singer-songwriter has performed in the past at Levitt at the Falls.

Nov. 28: Concert series

The Hegg Brothers will kick off the free Old Courthouse Museum Winter Concert Series from noon to 1 p.m. Friday. The museum is at Sixth Street and Main Avenue. Flower and Flame, a “Christmas Carol” classical ensemble, will perform Dec. 5. For a complete schedule through Feb. 27, click here.

Nov. 28: Jingle Bell Run

Get ready to run  — or walk — in the 18th annual Sioux Falls Jingle Bell run. The 5K run or 1.5-mile walk starts at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Fawick Park. Festive holiday attire is encouraged. It’s a fundraiser to support the South Dakota Arthritis Foundation. You can register here. Packet pickup is from 1 to 4 p.m. at 605 Running Co., with a program and costume and fundraiser competition awards at 4 p.m.

Nov. 28: Parade and cocoa

Kick off the holiday season at the 33rd annual Parade of Lights in downtown Sioux Falls. The free event on Phillips Avenue will include floats, music, a grand marshal, hot chocolate and the official lighting of the downtown holiday tree. The parade starts at 7:30 p.m. at 13th Street, heading north to Sixth Street. Before the parade, you can enjoy cocoa and carols at The Premiere Playhouse’s Rock Island rehearsal and event space, 300 N. Phillips Ave. It will begin at 5 p.m.

Nov. 29: SuFu Saturday

Spend Small Business Saturday with reCreate by SuFu Creative at 218 W. 13th St. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, you can bring new or used art supplies to donate and get entered for a chance to win prizes. Cash donations also will be accepted. In addition to sales in the store, small-business artists will be on-site for shopping.

Nov. 30: Special Sunday

Alcove, 151 E. Fourth Place, will participate in Museum Store Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Every purchase made at Alcove directly supports the mission of the Washington Pavilion. Sarah Mulder will create works of art from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free DIY painting kits will be available while supplies last, and you can stop by the Letters to Santa Station and the mimosa/lemonade bar. Alcove will be closed on Black Friday to prepare for Small Business Saturday and Museum Store Sunday.

Dec. 2: Yin and Yule

Alchemy House and Alchemical Awakenings will host Yin and Yule: A Moon Circle Celebration for the Holidays from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at 5001 E. Grant St. The evening begins by gathering in community over a hot drink, then a restorative yoga sequence and guided journaling. The evening closes with a releasing ritual. Dress for comfort, and bring a journal and water bottle if you like. Licensed clinical mental health therapist Amanda Boer is the facilitator. Cost is $33 per person. Tickets are available here.

Dec. 3: Country Christmas

The Stockyards Ag Experience will host its second annual Country Christmas from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 301 E. Falls Park Drive.  Enjoy the lights of the Winter Wonderland from a horse-drawn carriage, take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and sample cookies and hot chocolate. The family-friendly event is free.
